Cover Versions Art Exhibition

The ‘Six’ collective is excited to present its new exhibition, ‘Cover Versions’.

The artwork of album covers has become iconic in its own right, and adds a layer of meaning to the work of many musicians. It can be powerful, evocative, and instantly brings to mind the spirit of the album.

Part of the joy of buying ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ or ‘Unknown Pleasures’ on vinyl is to see the artwork in its full 12″ square format. The Grammy for album cover art has just been reintroduced, recognizing the importance of the visual image, and was won by Tyler the Creator for ‘Chromokopia’.

‘Spin It Records’ in Trinity Market, where the show will take place, make a feature of displaying the stunningly varied sleeve art.

And just as musicians cover the work of other bands and singers to make the work their own, ‘Six’ aims to ‘cover’ the cover art and make something new and surprising. Come along and see if we have ‘remixed’ one of your favourite artists!
