A friendly lunchtime spot. Regular customers know to look out for the jokes on the chalkboards at the front of the stall, but it’s not just the giggles that keep people going back.

Customers like the value-for-money, good quality, fresh food: from sandwiches and jacket potatoes, to loaded salad trays; from sausage rolls and steak and kidney pies, to pasties, quiches, pork pies, saveloys and shish-style chicken on a stick. Trinity Delicatessen supports other independent businesses where possible, including the Hull bakery that provides all its breadcakes and pastries.

There’s sweet as well as savoury, with coconut slices, almond slices, caramel squares, triple chocolate squares, sweet pies and curd cheesecake.

Top tip: if you want to beat the queues, call your order in a couple of hours ahead and collect at lunchtime.
